With the publication of Nioh 2, which took place about a year ago, Koei Tecmo has clearly demonstrated that it is not necessary to revolutionize one's own principles to be able to churn out a work capable of enhancing even the most insensitive soul.
By enhancing the already rich cornucopia of content bestowed on the videogame community through the binary code of a first chapter which, for gross quality put in place, had nothing to envy to much more consolidated sagas, Nioh 2 managed to convince critics and audiences working extensively on the bevels of a primeval production however very relevant and ascribable no doubts within the pages of an ideal book narrating the events of the best actions published during the past generation of hardware.
The next release of Nioh 2 - The Complete Edition on PC and PlayStation is therefore comparable to the will of Team Ninja to proceed to convey the production to a larger slice of users and in the meantime create a version that includes all the downloadable content published up to now on PlayStation 4, opening the doors to tasty improvements destined - as well as to those who will buy the game through Steam - also to the new owners of PlayStation 5.
Going into more detail, of course the most significant refresh was intended for the technical sector of Nioh 2, concentrating the efforts so that parameters such as fluidity of the flows rendered on video and support for types of monitors mainly used in the PC field could be improved.
It will be possible to increase the frame rate, playing at 120 fps, use widescreen monitors and push the resolution up to the now paradigmatic Ultra HD. The PC SKU will obviously include the ability to be used via pad, fully mappable keys for the mouse and keyboard combo, as well as support for 144Hz monitors.
Epic Videogames Guide had the chance to lay their furry hands on a beta version of the PC version and the initial impressions are, all in all, good.
Let's face it right away: except for sensational last-minute upgrades and net of the frame rate improvements, Nioh 2 - The Complete Edition will not be the title that will destroy the GPUs of half the world. Although the increase in performance, especially in terms of pacing, is significant compared to what could have been experienced at the time of the original publication, thethe overall cosmetics of the product does not seem, at present, very different from what was played a dozen months ago.
A shame even if, as easily understood, massively updating the game engine would probably have required a lot of extra work, an effort obviously not compatible with what is the working plan reserved for this which, de facto, is envisaged as little more than a definitive edition of the title. In short, to see a noteworthy graphical upgrade we will probably have to wait for a sequel, which however may never see the light ...
For the rest, the feeling returned by this almost definitive version of Nioh 2 - The Complete Edition does not differ much from what was excellently expressed at the time of the very first contact with the PlayStation 4 version of the title. So let's get ready to enjoy a long-lived and playfully stimulating adventure, characterized by the presence of epic boss battles and an above average level of difficulty, assisted by an interesting multiplayer mode and hours and hours consisting of apotropaic rites, snuffings and extreme grinding. The countless customization possibilities reserved for the protagonist of the game, including all the similar skills during the playthrough, as well as a complete combat system like few represent the classic icing on the cake of a production, still today, of the highest caliber.
The release of Nioh 2 - The Complete Edition is scheduled for February 5th. And you, will you be brave enough to challenge the Yokai fury again? Appointment on these same pages for the complete review, in a few days.
