In Marvel's Avengers our superheroes will have to power up properly with adequate equipment and artefacts, in order to face the hordes of the AIM. As you progress through the Campaign, completing HARM missions and taking part in multiplayer missions, you will come into possession of a lot of equipment. When you unlock the equipment inventory on the Chimera, you will unlock 300 equipment slots to store and you can count on a great choice.
Marvel's Avengers equipment, as well as artifacts, can be upgraded by making use of resources. The easiest way to get the latter is break all the shiny crates present in the stages. Depending on their color they will have a different content. There are nine types of resources throughout the game, here they are in order of rarity:
- Fragments
- Upgrade modules
- Naniti
- Nanotubes
- Catalysts
- Plasma
- Polychoron
- Uru
- DNA keys
As for DNA keys, we have dedicated a special guide to reveal how to find them. The other resources can also be purchased from the traders of the various Factions, as well as as rewards for Assignments, Challenges and Missions.
As for the equipment, there are different types:
- Melee
- Ranged
- Defensive
- Heroic
You will encounter plenty of them, especially in the Chimera and the Anthill. You can carry up to 9 pieces of equipment per type (obviously equipping only one, for a total of 4). Equipment can also be disassembled for resources: useful operation when you count several pieces of equipment of a too low level, useful to reinvest to upgrade the current one. Obviously, equip with contour skills should be preferred, rather than smooth ones: the higher the rarity of the piece, the more powerful the skill coupled to it will be. Each piece of equipment will also enhance specific attributes.
Equipment in Marvel's Avengers can also be provided by one of the Factions, giving specific upgrades:
- SHIELD
- Pym Technologies
- Stark Industries
- Hammer Industries
Then there are gods very rare gear, provided as a reward in some missions such as Heroic, which also enjoy an increased drop rate. Often, to find them, just go to the "?" that JARVIS will show us on the game interface in the missions. Often the chests will be inside the vaults or guarded at a short distance by tough enemies to take down. JARVIS will also report the presence of Elite AIM units: even these, if defeated, will be able to drop excellent equipment.
In addition to the equipment, in Marvel's Avengers there are also artifacts you can count on to power up the Avengers. In the Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics title, artifacts will give heroes both a stat boost and additional abilities. These can also be obtained within missions or purchased from merchants. The major artifacts, such as the Sacred Nornstone of Lethal Will and the Tactigon, can increase total damage and every hero will be able to equip them, as they can be shared. Minor artifacts, such as Iso-8 fragments, will either resist certain types of damage, or boost the attributes / chance of finding certain items.
