Robbing banks and trains is one of the core activities in Red Dead Redemption 2. Often, however, they end in a firefight with the lawmen. There will be occasions where Arthur Morgan and his gang will rob banks and more in Red Dead Redemption 2, bringing you a lot of loot that you can spend on upgrading your equipment and camp. Here are all the useful tips to carry out your robberies successfully.
Within the game you can rob any shop, gunsmith, doctor or whatever, as well as any non-player character. However, it is best to avoid doing such actions as they will greatly lower your rank within the honor system, which can then be reflected in various discounts in denied shops or unlocked rewards: the game will not be worth the candle. If you are in desperate conditions, you better take several precautions:
- Always rob in cleared areas to avoid witnesses and be prepared to flee as your Wanted level rises
- There will probably be a bounty on your head and this will mean that you will have to pay to remove it, ending up losing more than you have earned: always wear the mask, before a robbery.
Train robberies
Robbing trains comes with a certain level of risk but, if done, the heist will bring us a lot of dollars. In addition to the currency, these types of shots can also yield interesting items or equipment. To start the robbery, ride next to the train and press X / Square to jump on it while it is still moving: don't rob a train while it is stationary but always do it between stops to avoid too many witnesses. Also try to block the train always outside the cities: in this way there will also be fewer lawmen to hinder you. To stop the train make your way to the engine room and hit the driver until he is convinced that stopping will be a good idea. Then head to the passenger cars to intimidate and hit the passengers as well, so that they give you money and jewels. Some trains will be equipped with guards so make sure you take them all out, otherwise your escape won't be that easy.
Robberies at stagecoaches
Robbing the stagecoach won't be very profitable, at least until you unlock the fence at Emerald Ranch. In Chapter 3, you'll unlock a couple of stagecoach robberies. They will introduce you to two postal workers who will be happy to provide you with some details about the stagecoaches in exchange for a few dollars. Initially they will be fairly easy shots and then get complicated later, so much so that they require dynamite and take out some guards.
Shots on the banks
Banks will be easy targets and also quite profitable. At the end of the shot there will always be a shooting so you must always be ready to escape and avoid the city where you will make the shot for a while. Inside the bank, you will find the currency always inside safes. Always intimidate the clerks until they open the entrance, and then decide how to open the safe. You have two options: blow it up with dynamite or open it quietly. Dynamite is the fastest method but it attracts the sheriff's men much more easily, as well as having to be careful when you detonate it to avoid getting involved. Breaking it instead will take more time, so potentially there will be more witnesses but they will still have to call for help first or warn the sheriff. If you do not have witnesses, however, it will be much easier. You will have to move the stick left and right several times to open the safe. The secret is to slow down when you feel the joypad vibrate and then rotate in the opposite direction. Practice and everything will be fine.
Rob the doctor in Valentine
Robbing Valentine's doctor will yield you the Schofield Revolver, one of the strongest weapons in Red Dead Redemption 2. The robbery will surely fall into a shootout so get ready for a clash with the sheriff and his men, or rather, escape. To grab the weapon you will have to force the doctor to open the locker closed with the padlocks, as it will be useless to shoot it to open it.
