As you probably know well after more than a week after the launch of The Last of Us Part 2, the combat system in the game is largely borrowed from the first chapter. This does not mean that new techniques cannot and must be exploited in order to handle in the best way the new skills. Dodging and stealth features in particular can make the way you handle combat deadly. In The Last Of Us: Part II, in fact, both the pace of history and the way of dealing with critical situations are largely dependent on the how you will decide to unravel every single situation. So let's make a small summary for the benefit of everyone, starting with those who may not have had the opportunity to play the first episode.
The Last of Us Part II: combat for dummies
- Shooting is possible, but it is not always recommended. Kneeling is better, doing it lying down gives you maximum precision.
- Stealth killing of enemies from behind is always the safest method, but if the enemy is close enough, you can sometimes do it from the side or even head-on. taking advantage of a cover until the last useful moment.
- You will always find Lots of bottles and bricks - use them to stun enemies at medium distance in order to reach them from behind or to shift attention away from you.
- Silently take out the enemies without letting others see you while you do it. If necessary, drag the unfortunate person on duty before finishing him and if possible leave the area immediately: the others will look for you as soon as they find the body.
- When you kill an infected, make sure it's finished. From time to time they may crawl towards you and bite your ankles.
- The enemies who seek you look from time to time even under cover, always keep this in mind.
- If you are in a melee phase but have an open field don't mind a short escape: This strategic move will allow you to catch your breath and reorganize your arsenal.
- Use the characteristics of the infected to direct them towards human NPCs: in some situations it is essential that they "thin out" among themselves.
- Watch out for the moments when you rearrange weapons and build objects: time does not stand still, and neither do the enemies. Stay safe!
The Last of Us Part II: combat tips advanced
The enemy AI in the Naughty Dog blockbuster is significantly improved and almost out of automatic patterns, particularly as regards the reactions of human characters (both enemies and allies). In any case, as already mentioned, there are many ways to find a solution in every situation. Don't be stubborn to try and try again what appears to be the best at first glance. Rather experiment with techniques and devices that perhaps until then you did not consider effective compared to the classic gunfight. Also remember that the stealth option is always in vogue: 90% of the activities you complete with heavy calibers are feasible even in tomb silence.
- Experiment with strategy. Using Molotov cocktails can kill multiple enemies both human and infected at the same time, as well as attracting the latter to the flames by killing them. Installing explosive mines at entry points and attracting enemies will quickly take out anyone who approaches. Progressing through the story will also allow you to increase the range and capacity of these devices.
- When use silencers for the gun, keep an eye on the meter of the bullets located under the gun icon itself. It indicates how many silent shots remain and is very important to avoid accidentally getting caught.
- If you happen to fall to the ground hit by one or more bullets but you are still alive, remember that it is still possible to shoot from the ground.
- Watch out for the infected stalker: they are the only type of enemy in The Last of Us Part 2 that does not face you directly in combat or seek you, but hides in crevices in walls or behind cover waiting for you to pass by. Fortunately, even if they are not identifiable with the listening mode, you can see them peep out and you can cool them with a headshot.
