There are substantial updates to Nintendo's original work in The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening, such as the Mario figurines that Link can collect. Once you have made them you can place them in the homes of the island's residents, as if they were gifts to the inhabitants.
In all, there are 10 figurines in Link's Awakening. Each time you find one you will have to place it in a specific location to unlock the next figurine. Each figurine will be available thanks to the Trendy Game (ie the machines with the cranes from which to grab the prizes at the Mabe Village). Once you have a figurine you will not be able to collect the new one as you can only carry one at a time. Each figurine conquered must be placed on a specific pedestal of the Mabe Village. By doing this you will remove it from your inventory and you can move on to the next one: going back to the Trendy Game you will find as a prize another figurine, different from the previous one, among the prizes.
Then just repeat the process to collect them all. If you have not yet managed to grab all ten and you will not see new ones after placing one, it will mean that you will have to continue with the main plot as some figurines become available only after visiting certain dungeons.
Here is a list of all the figurines available:
- ciaociao: figurine of a small BowWow to be placed in Madame MeowMeow's house. The pedestal sits on a table in Madame MeowMeow's house.
- Goomba: one of Mario's most famous enemies. The pedestal will be located in the back of Marin's house, precisely in the room where you will wake up at the beginning of the game.
- Spiny: opponent in early Zelda titles. The pedestal in the right wing of Papahl's house.
- Cheep Cheep: another enemy of Mario with fish features. You'll need to place it in old Ulria's house, the house to the left of the phone booth.
- Boo: this figurine must also be placed in Papahl's house, precisely on the circular table in the center of the room.
- Blooper: one of the hardest prizes to take. It must be placed in the house of Ulria, along with Cheep Cheep.
- Piranha plant: even this figurine is not very easy to pull up. It should be placed at Marin's house, near the Goomba.
- Shy Guy: once grabbed go to Papahl's house. The pedestal is in the north east corner of the house.
- Pokey: statue rather than figurine, given its size. This too should be placed in Papahl's house, in the upper left corner of the house.
- BowWow: last figurine to collect. He positions himself in Madam MeowMeow's house.
Once you have collected all the figurines of The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening you will get a permanent discount to the Trendy Game, which is not so useful but at least you will have completed your collection!
