Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War has in its multiplayer, like so many other CODs before it, the heart of the gaming experience. That's why we're here to give you 5 tips to get you started.
Train with the Bots
One of the best ways to get familiar with the multiplayer component of Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is definitely to let off steam on bots. The option is accessible in the Lobby screen, below, and will allow you to train in matches without real players and clearly without unlocking challenges. Use this mode to try out new builds, a new weapon or just to understand the mood of the different maps: the more experience you get here, the better you will be against real opponents.
Stay in the group
It seems obvious but, like every cliché, it must be repeated: resist the instinct to go into trouble alone. You are much more effective with a companion or two beside you, extra eyes that can save you from certain death in more than one situation, or even just help you take down that enemy faster than you would alone. Live together or die alone.
Don't worry too much about dying
Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War leaves the Killstreak behind and brings back the Scorestreaks, and that's why we tell you not to worry too much about dying: the Scorestreak does not depend on the kills in series without dying that you perform, but by different factors, such as securing a goal. This score does not reset upon your death, but essentially functions as a cooldown. Play smart.
Listen to the footsteps
Sound design has in general made great strides in recent iterations of COD, and in Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, there needs to be even more attention to the sound of enemy footsteps, even more so than in Call Of Duty: Warzone. If you are careful, very often you will be able to hear an enemy long before you have it in your sights: don't rely only on the minimap, trust your senses too.
Running cares you
Same thing as above, you have to check the sounds you "create" well and if it is worth it or not. Use the sounds to your advantage, without marching towards the enemy like a rhino, perhaps depriving yourself of the kill you otherwise would have obtained: crouching slows you down, yes, but makes you much less visible… and audible.
