The terminals in Fallout 76 are very important, both for the lore they contain, and for violating the security systems of buildings and Vault present in the game world. They work in a similar fashion since Fallout 3, although there have been some minor changes. The main difference from the past lies in the way you potential your hacking skills.

Hacking Skills
- The process of leveling up the hacking skills of the Bethesda boys title is similar to that of the break-in skills. You will need to find the three different cards (Hacker, Expert Hacker, Master Hacker) and equip them. There is no other way to enhance their abilities, as there is no way for them to merge them to create more powerful ones. The inherent cards, in fact, do not have an upgrade level and it will therefore be vital to find all three and equip them. The greater the number of cards, the higher the skill and the less time you will have to wait to try to hack the terminal again, should a new attempt be needed.
Hack a terminal
- Once logged into a terminal, you will find yourself in front of a screen with many words, having the same number of characters and a certain similarity between them. You will also find very different characters, which are intended to confuse, to mislead the aspiring hacker.
- To hack a terminal, you will need to find the right word. Select a word, and if it's not the right one, the terminal will tell you how similar it is to the right word. Based on the affinity, it will have one or more letters in common with what is the right solution. Arm yourself with patience (and skill) and try: sooner or later you will guess the right word. Do it before the available attempts run out, and you have successfully hacked the terminal.
Over time you will become familiar with this mechanic and you will be a skilled hacker, trust me!
