The arrival of the TOTS (or TOTSSF) changed the face of FIFA 20 and its pivotal mode once and for all. The equilibrium reached (actually never really reached, but this is another matter) in the months, with the now beautiful teams that you have formed, has been definitively challenged by the arrival, as we have already seen, of formidable players, able to change the face of the meta forever in the blink of an eye.
Of course, most of these elements are accompanied by a prohibitive market cost, not for everyone, but if you manage to raise the right amount you could then run into a new "problem": who to buy? Needless to go around it: the strong players now are really many and choosing the right one for you is not easy at all, for various reasons ranging from the type of team chosen to the style of play, thus making every choice really complicated.
Fortunately, however, in an overall objective way "it is possible to draw up a ranking of those players who seem to have definitely an edge over all the others and, since there are so many, we have decided to separate them by role starting from the defense. , what is the most difficult section of the pitch to fix in this edition of Electronic Arts football.
Before starting, we would like to underline that we will take as a reference the prices of the PlayStation 4 version (which we use) and that the latter may vary in the coming days.
Top 5 TOTS: Defenders
5st place: Alphonso Davies - Bayern Munich, TS, 350k - 400k (lv 92)
The Bayern left-back is one of the strongest and above all complete players in the whole game, especially in its TOTS version. In spite of values on paper that are not exactly incredible compared to other exponents of the role, the Canadian has a yield on the field off the scale, placing by right in the Olympus of the defenders, but not only. A nice 4 4 weak foot and skill moves, high yield both in attack and in defense, 99 of speed and almost 90 in both physical and defense. With “Sentinella” it practically becomes a wall and then costs “only” 350k. Only problem? He can only play in a Bundes team or, at least, in a team with many Icons on the field.
4st place: Kenny Lala - Strasbourg, TD, 380k - 400k (lv 93)
If it didn't have that "average" wording under defensive performance, Kenny Lala would, in all likelihood, be the strongest full-back ever seen in the game. Very fast, excellent in defense (96 and 93 respectively) and physically strong (92), the French full-back can also be safely used in midfield and even in attack, since the only really low parameter is represented by the shot (77). For the rest, Lala is a real wild card, reliable and never tame, who can save your skin on more than one occasion. Besides, being French, you can hybridize it quite easily!
3st place: Joe Gomez - Liverpool, DC, 1kk - 1,1kk (lv 93)
Arrived with the first round of cards, those related to Community TOTS, Joe Gomez is without a doubt one of the most anticipated and loved players in the game. Already in its basic version, decidedly less "handsome" from a defensive point of view, at least on paper, the player had an incredible, almost unjustifiable performance on the pitch, but which with this version - clearly - reaches unthinkable heights. It costs a lot, but it's also fairly easy to hybridize, by league and nationality, but believe us, it's worth every single credit spent!
2st place: Raphael Varane, Real Madrid, DC, 1kk - 1,11kk (lv 97)
At a price very similar to that of the good Joe, you can take home what is one of the symbols of this FIFA 20. Let's talk about Raphael Varane, one of the most used players in all his versions, really many and released with an incredible frequency, also a sign of the excellent "real" performances of the French giant. Varane is just perfect on the defense, with a single flaw it represents a not exactly stellar agility-balance combination. For the rest (and we say it as owners for months of his "headliner" card) Varane is a real phenomenon, easily hybridizable in the team because of both the championship and especially his nationality. In short, a real guarantee.
1st place: Virgil Van Dijk - Liverpool, DC, 1.7kk (lv 99)
This ranking could only end with him, "Virgil". Van Dijik is undoubtedly the strongest defender in the game, a real war machine, an insuperable wall, net of a speed (in its previous versions) not exactly at the top. With the TOTS card, however, everything changes: Virgil van Dijk in version 99 is simply perfect, were it not for the cost (we are talking about almost 2 million credits), his only real problem. Then it's Dutch, so it hybridizes quite easily. What more do you want from life?
