LA Noire, Case 4 - "Buyer Beware"
Watch the intro cinematic until you arrive at the crime scene, then bend down to examine the body. Take the receipt he has in his pocket, then go a few steps farther to find the shells of the weapon that killed him. At this point, turn right and look inside the garbage can to find the gun. Examine it to read the make and serial number, as with the first gun.
Now turn away, go past the corpse and talk to the man in the orange shirt, who will tell you he saw a girl escape inside the shoe shop. Enter to question her: you will have to answer every affirmation of the woman deciding whether to accuse her or not, or whether to remain vague. Here is the outline of the three correct answers that you will have to give to continue in the game:
- Statement 1: LIE (you have the receipt found in the victim's pocket as proof)
- Statement 2: DOUBT (you still don't know who really committed the murder)
- Statement 3: TRUTH (the woman will not lie about the details of the murder she knows)
Once the interrogation is complete, go back outside and get in the car: your next destination is the weapons store, the Eagle's Gun Store, to be reached as usual using the notebook to mark the destination on the map. Simply talk to the owner of the shop to find out the name of the owner of the weapon you found in the trash - he is a certain Edgar Kalou, who can be found at Hartfield's Jewelery.
Go to the place to find the suspect, who catches you by surprise and escapes from the back of the shop. If you are accurate enough, you can stop him by firing a warning shot with the pistol as soon as you are in the street: to do this you will have to aim at the fugitive and keep aiming until the clock that appears on the screen does not complete a full circle. If you do not succeed in the enterprise, continue in the pursuit anyway until you reach and capture the suspect.
After watching the cutscene, you will interrogate Kalou in the same way as you did for the woman at the shoe store. In this case, the right answers to give to the suspect's statements are:
- Statement 1: FALSE (you have the evidence to prove that he is lying)
- Affirmation 2: DOUBT (you don't know if the crime is religious or not)
Once this case has also been solved, you will have completed the first part of LA Noire. Congratulations: You are now a detective, ready to face new, more intricate and mysterious cases starting with the next case 5.
