Predator: Hunting Grounds is a video game dedicated to the famous sci-fi franchise of Predator, developed by Illfonic and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment, available for PC and PlayStation 4. It can appear as a simple and ordinary shooter, but with the variety of gameplay between hunter and prey, there is a lot to consider in both sides of a multiplayer game. Each faction has its own strategy that could sometimes be taken for granted. The depth and versatility of the game will become evident in these eleven short tips on how to survive in this great hunting ground.
Team play
As a member of a team of mercenaries, the only strategy you can rely on to survive in Predator: Hunting Grounds is team play. The enemy AI and the Predator will be a constant danger. The firepower of a single soldier is nothing against the monstrous hunter, so separating from your team is tantamount to suicide.
Camouflage
Trying to escape the Predator's thermal vision is a tactic to always keep in mind, so hiding in the leaves is out of the question. Spreading mud is possible and is the solution to the problem. It will be enough to interact with the wet ground and hope not to be attacked during the animation. The mud won't last forever, but in the meantime you will be immune to the hunter's sensors.
Watch out for the radar
Radar is important for a winning strategy. Like a minimap, it will locate allies, enemies and targets, but not only that. It can also locate useful items in the surrounding environment, such as medical kits and ammo crates, as well as optional items that provide points to spend on cosmetics.
Trees help
The setting of Predator: Hunting Grounds is capable of delivering a good deal of tension. The dense jungle is the favorite hunting ground of the Yautja warriors. Fortunately, however, the Predator is not without its drawbacks. When it snaps into the trees, leaves and branches will fall to the ground. This will be useful for predicting their movements and position.
Mark the target
Getting a glimpse of the Predator is no easy feat. Its incredible agility and speed will make it difficult to spot, not to mention that it can become invisible. As soon as you see it, it is always better to mark it thanks to the Spot function. This will highlight the Predator for a short time on the screen, even for the rest of the team.
Run for cover
Enemies, both AI and Predator, cannot shoot through good cover. This makes walls, rocks and trees invaluable resources for survival and should always be exploited whenever the opportunity arises.
Attack at the right time
In the role of the Predator the biggest advantage lies in the objective of the mercenaries. Take advantage of their distraction while dealing with enemy soldiers or trying to complete their assigned tasks. For example, some missions require you to stay within a certain distance of a specific objective. This can make a target easy to hit if the rest of the players are distracted by something else.
Chameleon
While observing soldiers from above like ants, the Predator can devise a particularly subtle strategy. By opening the dialog, you can mimic the team's directives, luring enemies out into the open. This is a great way to attack players in a more favorable area.
Energy saving
As a Predator, almost all of your skills are tied to an energy meter, which runs out of use. This includes invisibility and thermal vision. These are essential tools in your arsenal, which means that good energy management is essential for success.
To extreme evils ...
If during a game of Predator you are close to defeat, there will always be the possibility to activate a self-destruct function, capable of killing all the players caught in the radius of the explosion. It is certainly an extreme strategy, but it can be effective in turning a defeat into a victory. Waiting for players at their extraction point can be a good way to finish them off. They will have to group to escape, and hordes of AI enemies will flood the area as players wait for the helicopter, giving you the last chance to sneak in and take them out.
Shoot wildly
In Predator: Hunting Grounds, almost everything from completing objectives to hitting enemies earns you experience points for leveling up. So even if hitting the target feels like a shooting range, do it whenever possible. More experience points mean more levels and more variety of customization and versatility in upcoming games.
